Members of the 82nd Avenue of Roses Business Association elected its 2018-19 Board of Directors at their Annual Meeting May 3rd. Thai Fresh hosted the event, and local business owners and community members were treated to a nice array of food, drink, and opportunities to network with each other.
Heather Hoell, Executive Director of Venture Portland, lead a presentation highlighting the Association’s accomplishments over the last year, which included several business networking events, securing grant funding for District promotion and staffing, and the annual ‘Around the World in 82 Dishes’ event.
In addition to all the Association’s accomplishments from the previous year, Board president and District Organizer, Gary Sargent and Jeff Lynott, lead a group discussion on goals for 2018-19 and exciting new opportunities to promote the District and local businesses. Some of these opportunities include hosting regular business mixers throughout the District, partnering with Portland Community College and other community organizations, and utilizing grant funding to host events that promote 82nd Avenue’s rich and diverse restaurant industry.
Outgoing Board member, Todd Struble, was also honored for his contributions to the Association and District as a whole.
The evening proceeded with an election of the Board of Directors. New Board member, Mike Roessel (Portland RV), was elected, as well as returning Board members Gary Sargent (President, Sargent’s Motor Sports), Alan Shaffer (Vice President, Wing Stop) and Nancy Chapin (Secretary/Treasurer, TSG). The night concluded with guests and members showing off their 82nd Avenue love.
